75 Days Until Spring!

Spring Golf Around the Corner

So, I’m sitting in my office looking at snow and tapping on the thermometer to see if it is stuck on freeeeezing! Made me take a moment and look up when spring starts. Just 75 days! and when I think back, I remember that last year we played golf in February, so maybe golf is not that far away. Thought I would take a moment and talk about 2017 and what’s happening in 2018.

2017 was a very good year for Meadowbrook. The course was in great shape for most of the year and outside of a little too much rain at times, the course stayed very playable. We also had our best year with rounds played and seemed to stay busy with leagues and outings, but as always, we have plenty of room for more rounds to be played. Pace of play for the course was good with most groups staying under the 4:15 pace we ask you to play in. A good pace makes golf fun for all.

We did have some big moments this year. We had several holes in 1! in 2017. A couple that I would like to mention. First, hole in one by Rick Rose, why is this so important… he is Clayton’s city manager, so he’s my boss! So, woo hoo Mr. Rose. Gary Gould also had a 1 on #3 back in July.

Gary is a regular at Meadowbrook and was kind enough to send me a picture celebrating this great occasion. So, congrats Gary, hope you ace the other par 3’s in 2018!

If you have a special golf moment happen at Meadowbrook, please let us know and maybe you will be feature in one of my world famous blogs. (world famous because my son-in-law reads them in Maryland.)

2018  is here and we have great plans for this year. The prices for annual passes are the same as they were in 2017. Premier pass gets you unlimited golf, advanced tee-times, locker, bag storage, and a GHIN handicap. The cost is $1150 or $1025 for Clayton residents.

We plan on doing open tournaments this year, so keep your eyes for the opportunity to play with or against your friends in 2018.

On the course we have plans for improvements. Finish the cart paths on the golf course. This will allow us to keep carts out when the course is wet. We are also removing many of the dead and dying trees from the course. This will do several things, allow for the turf in the rough to improve and remove many impediments from the flight path of many, many golf balls.

Well that’s enough for now. Keep your eyes open for more blogs in 2018. I plan on keeping you up to date on a regular basis this year.

What a Deal!

It’s another great day at Meadowbrook. Sunshine, green grass, and the greens are putting sweet! So I ask myself, Bill what are you doing working instead of playing? Well that’s one of the small problems with working at a golf course. You get to watch people go and play golf. Now don’t get me wrong, I love the fact that there are golfers on the course today, heck wouldn’t have a job if they weren’t, but on days like this I wish one of them was me.

That’s when the question hit me… why aren’t the rest of you playing golf today? You can’t all be at work. I mean instead of reading this stupid blog, you could be getting in 18 at “The Brook”. You at least have time for 9. Get up grab your phone and call us and get a tee-time. (937-836-6353)

So, if that phone call didn’t happen, you just can’t get away today, but you are now just that much more wanting to find yourself on the course as soon as possible; Relax, we have tee-times available everyday for you to satisfy that golf addiction.

Now, if you have decided to play golf not just this week, but every week for the rest of the year do I have a DEAL for you! We are offering our Premier Pass for the rest of 2017, for just $500! That’s right, UNLIMITED GOLF for the rest of the year for $500.

Now of course there are some restrictions and details you need to know about so call the Golf Shop and learn everything you need to know. Our number is 937-836-6353. Call today.

Come make stories at Meadowbrook, then share them with the staff!

Steal Bryson DeChambeau’s unconventional setup to hit it straighter

Line up your forearms and the shaft for a stable clubface

Nothing about Bryson DeChambeau looks standard. He doesn’t swing like anybody else on the PGA Tour, and he doesn’t dress in the same kinds of clothes.

A Great Day for Golf

As I sit down at my desk, in my office to write this blog, I look out the window to see the green grass of a well manicured golf course on a partly cloudy, 70 degree day, with a scandalous hit of a breeze blowing, and I think, why am I writing about golf and not playing golf? Ok, so it’s my job to watch people go out and play golf. What about you, why are you not playing golf right now? Why? With that being said I’ve decided to take a moment, at this point in the whole blogging process to allow you to set up a tee-time, so go ahead click on the tee-time button and get yourself a time. Go ahead I’ll wait…

Let’s continue.

I just wanted to take a moment and let you know what’s been going on at the course and what’s coming up. We had our 2 person scramble in May and the turnout was great. The winners were Jack Speake and Rick Rose who shot a 67 team score. Now before you mention that one of these guys is my boss and the other guy is a secret agent (don’t tell anyone, it’s a secret) I want to let you know that, that had nothing to do with the results, they just played better than everyone else, plus it’s never bad for one’s career to have your boss win, just saying.

Our next event , which is open to anyone, is a 2 Person, Both Balls Count net event. Both player play their own ball and we count both scores minus the players’ handicap. Don’t have a handicap… we will use a bankers handicap for you. You can pick your own partner or you can sign up as an individual and the Golf staff will try and find one for you. The event is scheduled for Saturday July 1st with sign-ups starting Monday June 12th.

Also, our Club Consignment Corner is going great. People are bringing their used clubs into the shop and we will try to sell them at a minimum cost. There are a few rules that you have to follow, but you can call Bill and ask for the specifics. This also means that if you are looking for a used club to buy, Meadowbrook is the place to visit.

Well that is all the time I have for today, I have a really important appointment in a few. And yes it does involve clubs and balls, “wink wink”.

As always the golf staff loves to hear your latest golf story, but remember if you are going to tells us about the whole 18  we want to take a cart.

Rainy days are gone!

So, maybe monsoon season is finally over… you never know in Ohio… but that means golf season is here! Meadowbrook is in great shape and we are just waiting on YOUR call! Better yet, you can go on our website and book a tee-time with no booking fee and no up front charge, WOW! By doing that you will also become eligible for our loyalty program, which will get you special offers from time to time and coupons for discounts.

The Pro Shop is full of brand new merchandise from name brands like Greg Norman and Under Armour. Compare our prices to the other guys and you will be pleasantly surprised! We have Greg Norman shirts that normally retail at $59 being sold by the crazy golf pro at Meadowbrook for $32.50! You don’t want to miss these prices.

Last, but not least, new to Meadowbrook this year is Club Consignment Corner. We are selling your used clubs in our shop on consignment. Come in and look at our selection of used clubs or sell yours. Call the Pro Shop for detail at 937-836-6353.

That’s all I have time for, but before I go let me pass along a little golf wisdom from a wise old golf pro… “the only hole in golf you should ever worry about, is the one you are presently playing”.

Come make great stories with your golf buddys at Meadowbrook, then share them with the staff. We love to talk golf.

See you Soon

Mastering Golf

I know it’s been a while since I sent out a blog, but after watching the Masters the other week, it made me realize that it’s truly golf sea...
